My concentration was shit this morning as I tried to sustain the shield spell Samuel was teaching me. Unlike other protective spells I’d learned, this one retaliated on whoever attempted to break through it. Clever, and nasty. I sure didn’t want to get hit with one of those lightning strikes. But my mind wasn’t on the spell, it was on Cade.
