Peyton
I stared at my reflection in the mirror. My St. Ivy uniform concealed my scars well. It even managed to make me look less shattered. My jacket held me together and felt like a shield to hide my scars inside and keep the outside world at bay. I straightened my tie and inhaled a deep calming breath. My mom didn’t want me to go back to school so early. She thought I’d need more recovery time. Even though the pain was bearable most days, a sudden wrong movement sent a sharp stabbing pain through my side, but I needed to get back to some semblance of normal before I drowned in my darkness. To be honest, I needed a distraction. With Capri missing and the guys gone for fuck knows how long, their absence made my insides coil. I felt abandoned and rejected, like they’d packed up and left, so they didn’t have to deal with my broken ass. The thought made me fucking bitter.
